New Homelessness Prevention Programs Now Available
ANNOUNCING 3 NEW
Homelessness Prevention Programs*
There are three new programs operating in Erie County.
B-HOP: for Buffalo residents
T-TAP: for Town of Tonawanda residents
(including Village of Kenmore)
ECHO: for Erie County residents excluding
those living in Buffalo, Tonawanda,
Amherst, Cheektowaga & Hamburg
Eligibility:
- Household is homeless or at risk of being homeless with
no appropriate subsequent housing options and lacking
the financial resources and support networks needed to
obtain immediate replacement housing or to remain in
existing housing; and - Household currently has very low income; and
- Household currently resides or previously (within
the past three months) resided in a participating
community.
Program Services:
All services and assistance are provided on a temporary
basis. The programs are meant to help the household
stabilize its housing situation so that time and effort
can then be directed to increasing household income.
Program participants may receive case management,
housing search assistance, legal services and advocacy
and, in most cases, some financial assistance.
Financial Assistance:
Participants may be eligible for rent arrears, short-term
rental assistance, utility arrears, short-term utility assist-
ance, security and utility deposits, moving cost assistance
and motel/hotel vouchers.
