Belmont Staff Member Receives Award from WNY Coalition for the Homeless

Fri, Jul 2nd 2010 08:00 am
Belmont Housing Resources for WNY's Ardis Damon has been honored by the Western New York Coalition for the Homeless with its 2010 Sister Jeanne Frank Advocacy Award.

Created in 1995 as a tribute to Sister Jeanne's years of tireless efforts on behalf of the cause of homelessness, the award is presented annually to an individual whose values mirror her unwavering commitment to social justice and her compassion for our community's less fortunate.

A member of Belmont's staff since 1981 and the 1997 recipient of its Ellen A. Wells Award for Excellence, Damon currently serves as Housing Programs Manager. In addition to playing a key role in the management of Belmont's Housing Resource Center, she is actively involved in the agency's community outreach efforts, representing Belmont on the WNY Homeless Coalition and participating in such initiatives as the 2008 federal census of the region's homeless population.
