Veteran area housing professional John McMahon of Belmont Housing Resources for WNY has been chosen to serve a second term as Vice-President of the National Leased Housing Association's (NLHA) Board of Directors.
The election was held last month in Washington, DC, during the 39th annual meeting of the NLHA, a nationwide coalition of more than 500 public and private organizations committed to providing Americans with affordable multi-family rental housing.
"The NLHA plays a pivotal role in a national debate that significantly influences the attitudes and actions that shape housing policy," explains McMahon, who has served as Senior Housing Programs Manager for regional affordable housing organization Belmont since 1999.
Noting the direct impact housing and housing-related programs have on communities' quality of life, he adds that both his NLHA involvement and his appearances as a frequently-requested presenter at national housing conferences provide him the opportunity to help make the quality housing so urgently needed in Western New York and communities everywhere more available and affordable.
An alumnus of Buffalo State College with a 1992 Bachelor's degree in Urban/Regional Analysis and Planning, McMahon resides with his wife and two sons in West Seneca, where he graduated from West Seneca West High School in 1987 and currently coaches youth soccer.
